I bought a 70 series satin nickle commander. Some of the parts were blue and some nickle. I got some stainless steel parts ..slide release,mag catch,thumb safety.. ect and really polished them up and they look good on the pistol. DID colt make a stainless steel 70 series gripsafety? The one I have on the commander is a 80 series and doesn't "look right". A 70 series stainless gripsafety would finish this project. Thanks for any info..

Lets face it most sales are net, as in as we discuse our opinions of Colts and other 1911 pistols. But to actually find parts genuine to the period of manufacturer is difficult. This is my opinion only and may be possible to find the grip sarety for an S70 Commander in more specifically stainless steel or nickle treatment. But I don't know if the parts were made to match back then.
You might want to look into having the whole piece renickled. Any original series 70 safety should work including a nickel one (no original 70's guns were made in stainless).
