Just as the title says... has anyone done a long-slide pistol with the extended dust cover? I'm really curious to see what that looks like. =)

I'd like to see one too.

I suspect this isn't what you're talking about - while it is a Longslide - the dust cover isn't longer - the frame is government model and the plug is longer so it uses a recoil spring of government model weight - but - here it is -

I bought it in 1987 in spite of AMT reputation for "spotty" QC - but lucked out. I replaced the thumb safety, slide lock lever, and grips and love shooting it - and - it's as reliable as my Colt's Series 70 Government Models - digests anything I've ever fed it - hardball to HP.

I knew I had seen this picture before. I have never seen one assembled. It would be nice to find out what the ball cuts would look like.

10mm? 460? 45 ACP? 400 C?

Someone pick a caliber and build it.

Ah... exactly what I was looking for, really. Yes, that would be neat... perhaps .45 Super? I wonder if they do that... not digging the square trigger guard though.

so something almost like this then.

Yes, very much so. Though, I'll say that this particular example just does not look too pretty to me, that is the idea I'm looking for.

The 6 1/2" comped bbl on my SA Longslide is by Storm Lake Machine Co. When I sent the slide/bbl/frame back to SA to be fitted (so I wouldn't void the warranty), Dave Williams told me he had to drop down to a #15 recoil spring to make factory 230 hardball reliable. he said the comp worked so well that he recommended me to use 185 jhp +P ammo to make it work right. 185 jhp 45Super just "barks" out of the bbl. I call it my "smile" ammo. After you pull the trigger, you can't help but smile.

6 inch longslide with full-length dust cover

I'm building one of these using Fusion slide and frame.
I think the square trigger guard makes it unique.
Will be using a Hogue speed (magnetic) holster to carry for
USPSA Ltd-10 Division. Aren't too many holsters for 6 inch slides.
