Could this be the reason for my FTF? (pics)

Problem: A little background first. I recently finished modifying my Springfield 1911. During range testing with ball ammo it ran flawlessly. No FTF, FTE, etc.. I was proud. I put roughly 200 rounds through it. The mags used were the factory 7rd Springfield and a CMC Power Mag 8.
For some reason it doesn't like Ranger T ammo. It doesn't want to load with the CMC mag. It seems like the bullet hangs up on the feed ramp and doesn't allow the slide to fully go into battery. I've tried 'sling shotting' the slide as well as using the slide release. The hammer also drops into half cock. But once I strip two rounds off the mag, it feeds fine.

My assumption: I think it's the mag. I loaded the mag up and started to slowly strip the rounds away. I know it moves alot faster in real life but look how the bullet nose dives out of the mag. Could it be a weak spring?
I don't have my gun since it's being refinished right now. I was just doing some thinking last night.

Angle of round with full mag

This is after I pushed the first round out a little with my thumb trying to simulate what the gun would do.. This happens with the first and second round.

Now look at this. This is the 3rd round. Look at the immediate angle as soon as it's slightly stripped out.

The mags look OK. It may be the configuration of the bullet itself. The hollowpoint is most likely catching on the lip or throat of the barrel as it sits on the frames feed ramp. If you have the ability to make some inert rounds with the same bullet/OAL you can test this by hand cycling the gun. Try another species if mag like the Wilson with the round follower, this usually points the rounds a bit higher into the chamber, maybe this will cure the problem. The key is that you had no FTF with ball ammo. Greg

Thanks for the Pix, Breech. I have a similar problem with my CZ97B .45.
It fires FMJ fine, but hangs up and locks the slide on the 2 Gold Dot HP's
following the first chambered round. I found that, like you, when I reduce
the number of rounds loaded in the mag, (In my case 7 instead of 10),
that the HP's feed and fire ok.

I also observed this same condition dry-firing with Azoom dummy rounds.
The next round in the mag following the chambered one would move forward,
just like your example in pix#2

Someone suggested to me that it could be a case of a weak magazine spring.
Sounds likely in my situation, 'cause I don't think I have a mag seating problem.
Could be the ramp needs polishing, but that doesn't seem to explain
the reason why the rounds are being stripped forward.

I look forward to what the 1911 vets here have to say.
