Exactly the reason I use them. Standard .350 height on my WC range mags and low profile pads on my carry.

 

Thanks, DR. Been looking to use the .300 thickness Wilson glue-on pads. I have the Springfield front ramp mags and they use a welded bottom, so I figured that glue-on pads would be ok.

 

Not trying to thread jack but can you purchase JUST the base pads?? I have a kimber protac mag that i bought from my uncle that didnt have it and i would like to purchase one with out having to spend 20-30 on a new mag etc

 

Sure - Midway USA and Brownell's both carry several brands of base pads for 1911 magazines. I looked at those from Wilson Combat - they have several types and thicknesses available. You can get both screw-on and glue-on types. The prices are very reasonable.

 

I highly recommend the screw ons over glue. Over the years the various glue ons I've tried all came off under hard use. I think Gorilla Glue lasted the longest but those eventually fell off too.

 

What size screws do these take? I'm sure I've seen the size before, but at the moment, it just escapes me.

 

I use Pachmyer low-profile rubber screw-on pads, 5 for $25.00 and some change. Comes with a template type jig for drilling correct holes. Very nice carry pads.

 

I don't use pads but my Chip McCormicks came with holes drilled for them.

 

I installed the magazine bumper pads. Only took a couple of minutes. They are Glend Arms Base Pads from Midway (#277586). They fit the pre-drilled holes on the Springfield Armory and Checkmate (came with the gun) magazines. They are $9.99 for 3 pads. I had to tap the holes on the Springer mags (4-40 tap). The Checkmate mag was already tapped. A drop of blue locktite on each screw and they won't come loose on their own.

 

Check ebay. I bought a package of 10 plastic screw on base pads for $6.50. Installed on Chip McCormick mags using 4-40 screws.
