My new 9mm SS target is a dream to shoot but it is ammo selective. I've got about 300 or so rounds through it and it handles the Remington 115g UMC just fine but does not like WWB 115g. There was another thread where a 9mm owner replaced his mainspring to cure his problem, so I have a 19 lb mainspring on order.

Also the barrel is not stainless and are prone to rust, so break it down as soon as you get it home and get it oiled up. Not complaining, just telling it like it is. As mentioned before, it's a pleasure to shoot, pretty sure you will like it.

I use Tripp magazines in all my 1911s (.45, 9mm, 10mm) and pretty sure it's the same price no matter what caliber. Only difference is if you get an 10rd extended magazine which is a little more. The Tripps have worked very well for me in all my Kimbers.

Can't speak for the stainless 9mm, I have an Aegis Custom II that I made changes to and use in IDPA. Magwell, carbon fiber grips, more "standard" thumb safety and magazine release. Been very happy with it.

Hey Tony. Nice to see a Jersey boy on here!

I am waiting on my PP so I can pick up the exact gun the OP is asking about. I can't wait. I have heard about the feeding issues, but it seems they go away after 3-500 break in rounds. Or, are at least minimized. If you get it, make sure to post pics and a range report. I will be doing that as well.

Out of curiosity, are you weighing it against anything else?

Good luck regardless.

Topher, another NJGF guy..LOL..
I have not had any feeding issues, replaced the recoil spring at 1000rnds.
I have 1200 rnds through it so far and it is running very well. The 9mm is a fun round to run out of a 1911 plenty of bullets available one of the reasons for purchasing for about 9 months i could not get .45 bullets..This gun has grown on me and i have used it for uspsa since i got it..
I have 5 1911's the kimber is a great gun.
I have two taurus 38 supers one i shot uspsa it is a good gun and works well collecting my brass back was an issue.
I also have an AMT hardballer in .45 which i started out with in uspsa.
I have made changes to the hardballer, grip safety, hammer, mainspring housing it runs very good and i love this gun my 1st 1911 and also 100% USA made like the Kimber.
I also have a springfield 1911 125th NRA anniversary edition unfired it is a safe Queen..LOL..
I have also shot the S&W 9mm pro 1911 it is a very nice gun another guy i shoot uspsa with has one been a good gun..he does not use it any more he stepped up to limited 10 running an EAA witnes limited gun very nice..

I only want to do this one time, I mean I can only buy a gun that cost this much one time. I have read a lot of post about people that really like there gun after they have replaced a lot of parts. I have been told Kimber has plastic parts (i believe something to do with the mainspring). I wonder if I should wait and save some more money and go the down the Les Baer road.

I have owned both the Kimber Stainless Target II 9 mm. and the Les Baer Premier II 9 mm. I acquired both brand new.
After thousands of rounds on both guns, I concluded that I like the Kimber better.

In this particular comparison, the more expensive gun is not better.

The opinion I am giving you is based on years of actual ownership of both the guns mentioned. You have to make a distinction about opinion based on experience and the opinions of others who have never owned both guns.

I have already fired 9396 rounds on my Kimber and the only parts I change is the recoil spring that I change every 2000 rounds and I change the firing pin spring every 5000 rounds.

Go ahead and buy the excellent Kimber Stainless Target II 9 mm.

Got a Beretta 92 for Christmas. Quality gun but I didn't like the ergonomics so I replaced it with a Kimber Target II stainless 9mm today. This will be mostly a range gun, if I need 17 rounds I've got a G17 for that.

200 rounds of cheap ammo through it on the way home with no problems. Just need to move the POI to where I want it. Any tips on adjusting the sights?

OK, now you got me thinking. I had decided on a Springfield 1911 9mm loaded target but they are scarce. My favorite local GS sells both SA and Kimber. He tells me the Springfield may be 3 weeks or 3 months...no way to tell.

I have a Kimber Eclipse Custom II in 45 that did need to go back to the factory in the first month for short primer strikes. I was not impressed with Kimber's customer service initially but they did return the gun fixed in 3 weeks.

I had read at least one review on the Kimber Custom 9mm that was not particularly favorable and several on the SA that were.

Bottom line, I may reconsider unless the price difference is significant. The Springfield with 3 mags, holster and mag holder is going to be $899. My Kimber 45 came with one mag and nothing else.

Take a look at a Springfield Loaded SS target in 9mm, if you can find one. SA and Kimber in this configuration were my two finalist for 9mm target. The SA won. Less $$, better trigger than any of the Kimbers handled, range gear, two mags, and a discount on accessories such as additional mags.
